The Feeling of Community

When Cristal Kohring first heard about the Run for a Mom 5K and Fun Run she knew she wanted to get involved. Cristal and her husband have a beautiful daughter named Grace but even before she was in their arms, they wanted to participate in this wonderful cause.

“The first year I ran because I knew that we had a birth mom who was making a brave but difficult decision and we wanted to run to honor her and to pray as we ran for our future child. The event is actually on the birthmom’s birthday so it was a perfect way to honor her and her decision. The next year Grace was able to join the run and now we plan on doing this every year and making it a tradition in our family. We want Grace, now 20 months old, to always know her mom and know how brave she was and what a great blessing we have now that she is with us.”

Cristal ran with a team of about 10 people from her church, most are involved in a group called Father’s Heart. Father’s Heart is an orphan ministry and also functions as a support group to encourage parents who are going through the adoption process.

“My favorite part of running is being there with other people who love orphans and have a heart for this ministry. The feeling of community at the race is very special.”

Register today for Agape’s 4th Annual Run for a Mom 5k and Fun Run, Saturday, May 10. This day is not only the day before Mother’s Day, it is also what many celebrate as Birth Mother’s Day. What a way to honor these precious women!
